Tuition and Fees Deadlines — Fall 2024

Tuition and Fees Payment

Bemidji State University assesses fees to all students to facilitate the operation of student support services and offices which are not funded by a student’s tuition. Student fees are listed individually in a student’s e-Services account, accessible via MyBSU.

Since the services funded by these fees are available to the general student body, they are mandatory for all students.

Tuition — which includes tuition differentials for certain programs — generally supports educational costs pertaining to academic learning and teaching, such as academic building maintenance, classroom facilities, course materials, teacher salaries, college staff, university administration and the library and its databases. There are some specialized fees that are assigned to specific programs and courses, however, which are not meant to cover all students. When these specialized fees apply to you, they will be reflected on your e-Services invoices as Personal Property Fee, depending on the type of charge approved for that course.

Whether you’re paying in full or need to set up a payment plan, these resources can help you navigate the tuition and fees payment process.

Payment Plan Options

Payment plans are available for all semesters.

Financial Aid Disbursement

If you have not received an award letter or have any questions concerning financial aid, contact the Financial Aid Office at (218) 755-2034 or Deputy 114. You will be required to repay a portion of your financial aid if you withdraw or discontinue attending classes before completing 60% of the semester.

  • You can have your financial aid (and payroll check) directly deposited in your checking or savings account. The input of Direct Deposit information will now be available to students through eServices. This is found either through the Student Employment tab if you are on student payroll OR the Financial Aid tab, you do not have to put your information in both places.
  • If you choose not to have your disbursement check directly deposited, it will be mailed to your permanent address.

Note: Financial Aid checks are not available to be picked up in person.

The application, billing and payment processing for your student loan will be handled by Heartland Educational Computer Systems, Inc (ECSI). You have the ability to access your account on the Internet by Heartland ECSI’s website. Through this site, you will be able to apply once notified, verify when payments have been received, update address and phone information, check on your account balance, obtain loan payoff amounts or sign up for electronic billing. You will be given a five-digit security code, which allows only you to access your account information.

For help on this process, students can call the Perkins hotline at: (651) 201-1500

PSEO Students

Students must meet the PSEO eligibility requirements by grade level and abide by participation limits outlined in the PSEO Reference Guide (download above). All students should meet with their high school counselor to discuss eligibility, graduation requirements and the benefits and risks of enrolling in the PSEO program.

Interested and eligible 10th-, 11th- and 12th-grade students should contact the postsecondary institution 218-755-2040 to find out about their admissions requirements, which courses are offered, and what the application process and timeline is at that institution.

All students must complete the PSEO Notice of Student Registration (NOSR) for the school year and term during which they intend to enroll.

BSU will bill your high school or MDE directly for fees and tuition. You are responsible for any room/board charges, library fees or miscellaneous fees.

Direct Deposit Questions

Name/Address Changes

Make sure you have a local and/or a billing address on file. You can change your address through the on-line registration page under the “student” tab or by contacting the Records Office. It is your responsibility to have a correct address on file. You must contact the Records Office if you are not attending BSU.

Non-Resident and Reciprocity

Students indicating non-Minnesota residency at the time of application for admission will be assessed the Minnesota resident tuition rate with Bemidji State University.

Resident status is determined by the state of residence indicated by the student on the application for admission. Students have the burden of providing domicile for purposes of resident tuition. Determining the state of residency is necessary for a variety of federal and state reporting requirements, institutional research projects and in some cases, determination of the tuition charged to the individual.

Please refer to the Minnesota State Policy on Minnesota Residency Requirements or Minnesota Office of Higher Education Reciprocity Application for additional information regarding residency and reciprocity.
